an intro~
hello friends! Audrey here! It has been 4 years since I checked the BLOG page of my website, EEP! Cobwebs and all, I feel like this is a great place to formally re-introduce myself :)
My name is Audrey Okeya and I was born & raised in Binondo, Manila, Philippines! Which is the oldest Chinatown in the world and we have some amazingly yummy food like our la mien noodles or shanghai baos!
I graduated with a bachelors degree in animation from De Le Salle College of Saint Benilde which was where I really learned how to draw fast!
I have been living now in Los Angeles, California for over 7 years and counting! I cannot complain about my life now here, it is really a land of opportunity and growth! I live with my husband Jon and his family(mom, dad, sister, her husband, and her 2 kids!) and it can get crazy at times but we have all learned how to thrive and help each other out.
2019 was when I first started to form this idea of wanting to sell my art online. And Jon was the one who pushed me and said "Just do anything! Start something super small like stickers!" and it was quite a jump for me as I've never did any online sales before, let alone in AMERICA! But with looooots of trial, error, anxiety, tears, but still pushing; I've managed to start my first etsy store with 5 listings! I also had to learn how to figure out this darn cricut cutting machine but decided that the silhouette brand was way more forgiving when it came to making sticker sheets.
oh what a journey it has been since then!
since then, the business has slowly been growing! we established Okeya Stationery Co.as an LLC for me and Jon to make things super official. We got our business Ford Transit Van that we take with us everywhere we do events! And we even started renting out an office space which is just the cutest space we've ever seen! LOOK AT THOSE WINDOWS!
it was such a perfect little space for us to grow the business and after lots of thought we said YES to the space. there was definitely something pulling my heart to say YES to this office space and we felt such a good energy from it. And thus it became our Okeya Stationery Co. HQ! :)
thanks for reading the whole blog post! It feels like 2013 again when BLOGS were such a big thing hehehe! Anyways I wish you well and hopefully i will post more! <3
lots of love,
Audrey O.
